Paceman Gus Atkinson Compounds the English team's Fitness Worries.

'Major setback' for the English camp as Atkinson goes off due to a hamstring issue.

The English seamer added to the injury concerns plaguing England upon exiting the playing area during Saturday's play in the Melbourne Test versus the Australians.

Atkinson pulled up with his left leg immediately following a delivery in his spell at the MCG.

The England team indicated the 27-year-old felt some "soreness" and required time on the sidelines for further assessment "over the next few hours".

The series decider of the series beginning on 4 January gets underway at the end of the week.

The English side has already lost key quicks Mark Wood to a knee injury and Jofra Archer with an abdominal strain during this series.

A replacement bowler was brought into the squad as cover for Wood.

Atkinson struggled in the opening two Tests, taking just three wickets.

He was left out of the third Test, only to be brought back for the Melbourne Test to fill the void.

The county bowler performed better in the fourth Test, claiming a couple of wickets with the ball, and scoring 28 runs with the bat being one of only three teammates who passed ten runs.

Following a brief spell in Australia's second innings, he resumed for the second day's play and had nightwatchman taken by the wicketkeeper.

However, at the end of the fifth over, he sent down a slower ball to Travis Head and immediately felt at his leg.

The English bowler was recalled for the Boxing Day Test after being left out the Adelaide game.
