Our Task Involves Only Killing' - How The Sudanese Vicious Militia Carried out a Mass Killing

Alert: This Account Contains Disturbing Descriptions of Shootings.

Militiamen smirk as they travel on the back of a pick-up truck, hurrying by a line of several corpses and driving facing the setting Sudan's evening sky.

"See this extensive work. Look at this genocide," a combatant shouts.

He grins as he points the recording device on himself and his associate militiamen, their RSF insignia visible: "The victims will all be killed this way."

The combatants are exulting in a atrocity that aid workers fear killed more than 2,000 people in the African metropolis of al-Fashir last month.

A City Isolated from the World

Having held the city under encirclement for approximately 24 months, from late summer the militia moved to reinforce its dominance and restrict the surviving civilian population.

Orbital photography reveal that fighters commenced to build a massive sand wall - a elevated sand barrier - encircling the edges of al-Fashir, sealing off entry points and blocking aid.

As the siege intensified, 78 people were slain in an militia strike on a religious building on September 19th, while the United Nations said 53 more were murdered in unmanned aircraft and cannon bombardments on a makeshift community in fall.

By sunrise on 26 October the RSF conquered the remaining army strongholds and captured the main compound in the city, the main facility of the Army Division, as the army withdrew.

One of the most graphic recordings to surface and studied revealed the results of a mass killing at a educational facility on the west of the community, where scores dead bodies were visible strewn across the ground.

A senior man wearing a white tunic remained alone surrounded by the victims. The man looked to glance as a militiaman carrying with a firearm walked along the stairs facing the victim. Raising his firearm, the fighter fired a one round at the victim, who collapsed to the ground motionless.

"Why is this one still alive," one combatant exclaimed. "Kill this one."

Orbital photography recorded on 26 October appeared to confirm that killings were furthermore performed on the streets of el-Fasher, according to a report released by the university analysis team.

An observer who spoke said they had observed "many of our kin getting killed - the victims were collected in a specific area and each one eliminated."

RSF Officers Seek to Conduct Reputation Management

Following the events that followed the killings, RSF chief acknowledged that his forces had committed "violations" and stated the incidents would be investigated.

Included among arrested was following a report detailing his killings. Deliberately choreographed and produced footage posted on the RSF's formal Telegram channel show the commander being taken into a detention area at a detention facility on the outskirts of al-Fashir.

Simultaneously, the paramilitary force and connected digital channels began attempting to alter the account.

Updates showing its militiamen providing aid to inhabitants were shared by various accounts, while the paramilitary's media office published numerous clips purporting to show the humane management of military prisoners of war.

Regardless of the digital campaign being employed by the militia, their activities in the city have sparked global anger.
