Grief as Beloved South African DJ Killed in Johannesburg.
A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been murdered in the metropolis of Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a country grappling with rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was attacked in the city centre on Tuesday afternoon.
Officials stated the 40-year-old entertainer was approached by three suspects, one of whom shot at him before fleeing on foot.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear and no arrests have taken place, police said.
The Fatal Incident
Police revealed that Stock was attacked as he was exiting a building near the Carlton Centre.
He had devoted time at the property overseeing the installation of safety equipment, which had been reportedly taken over by unidentified individuals, it was reported.
"It is alleged the victim was confronted by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they opened fire at him before running from the location on foot," authorities stated.
Security camera video reportedly captured a man with dreadlocked hair and clad in what appeared to be a protective services outfit firing shots on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ attempted to flee after he was shot but fell down on the opposite side of the road.
It was further revealed that Stock had an unused firearm and it was not a robbery during the incident.
Key evidence, like spent shells, were discovered at the scene.

Authorities have requested eyewitnesses who may have witnessed the attack to come forward.
"We know they covered significant ground after the attack, and police have been tracking them to find their location," remarked an authority figure.

His family member, a close relative, expressed the relatives are devastated to come to terms with the loss.
"I am in shock. I cannot express the pain," she said.
"It is clear he was a voice for many people. He spoke out bravely about topics not many people were prepared to speak about. This is a tremendous loss."
